Making It Happen - The Northern Way, is the second is a series of updates on the `Sustainable Communities - Building for the Future`, launched in February 2003. The “Communities Plan” is a long-term programme of action backed by £22 billion of investment to improve housing and planning in order to build sustainable thriving communities. It covers a wide agenda, which recognises that to develop communities in which people wish to live, housing policy needs to be linked to improving economies, public services, transport and the environment at a local level. Today`s report launched by the Deputy Prime Minister focuses on the progress being made in the North and the Midlands and to transform our communities and improve quality of life for all.
